The LM2735xMY/NOPB is a monolithic step down power converter ideal for intermediate to low power applications of up to 15 Watts. It has integrated data communications between the converter and the remote controller, choosing the best combination of on-time and frequency for highest efficiency in any switched mode power supply application. The LM2735xMY/NOPB is an easily implemented DC to DC switcher designed to achieve high efficiency, high levels of integration and superior protection features. The part is designed to operate in a combination of buck, boost and inverted buck/boost operating modes with a wide input voltage range of 3.2 V to 32 V.

In a switching power supply, when the step-down circuit is insufficient because of different load conditions, the LM2735xMY/NOPB provides current balance for the input and output sides of a multi-phase converter and increases the power efficiency of the application. The integrated adaptive reset current protection (ARCP) can adjust the reset current based on the load. The up/down frequency modulation can further maximize the efficiency of the power converter. In addition, the LM2735xMY/NOPB has extensive protection features such as thermal shutdown (TSD), under-voltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage protection (OVP), and overcurrent protection (OCP).

The LM2735xMY/NOPB is excellent for regulating intermediate to low power DC to DC conversion. Its operating range of 3.2 V to 32 V allows for applications that have different power sources, including batteries or wall adapters, or for a broad range of voltages generated by an automotive or ship system. The working principle of the LM2735xMY/NOPB is as follows. The part incorporates a voltage-mode switching regulator controller, with multiple synchronic rectifiers, which controls the power conversion between the input and output of the power supply. The input voltage is applied to the two terminals, and the controller senses the voltage at each terminal. A resistor, connected between the pins, sets the desired output voltage.
