The LM2771SDX/NOPB is a voltage regulator designed for DC to DC conversion. It is a synchronous rectifier, switched-mode power supply (SMPS) regulator that integrates an internal pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and requires a minimum of external components. It is suitable for both voltage-mode and current-mode control. The PWM control combines error-amplifier, oscillator, power MOSFET driver, current limit and thermal shutdown in a small package.The LM2771SDX/NOPB is designed for portable applications and features an input voltage range from 4.5 V to 60 V, an output voltage range of up to 36 V, and an adjustable output current of up to 3 A. It is available in a 8-pin MLP or 8-pin SOIC package and operates in an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.The LM2771SDX/NOPB application fields include the general purpose voltage regulation, ON/OFF applications, boost and buck applications and any combination of these three modes of operation. It is well suited for automotive, industrial, telecommunications, consumer applications and desktop/ laptop/ handheld computer power supply designs.The LM2771SDX/NOPB is also featured with a unique synchronization function that allows the user to synchronize the internal oscillator with an external clock signal. This allows the external system to be able to control the switching frequency and more efficiently switch between the boost and buck modes, result in more precise regulation.The LM2771SDX/NOPB working principle is based on a buck converter topology with added features like soft start-up, inrush current limiting and input under voltage lockout (UVLO) for improved transient response and protection. Its internal MOSFETs have low gate charge and low on-state resistance offers improved efficiency and internal compensation allows for maximum flexibility with setting up loop compensation for required application specifications.The LM2771SDX/NOPB features a built-in, dead time control (DTC) to reduce switching losses and to reduce both EMI and conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI). The internal current limit circuitry offers both cycle-by-cycle and foldback limiting. In the event of an over temperature, the thermal overload protection circuitry will shut the regulator down to protect both the device and the external components from overheating. Overall, the LM2771SDX/NOPB is a highly efficient, total system solution that offers good regulation accuracy and excellent thermal management. It is easy to set up and is suitable for board designs with a limited amount of space.
