LM2901PW is a dual general-purpose comparator with Schmitt Trigger inputs. As a linear device, it is available in an 8-pin SOIC package. The low power consumption of the LM2901PW makes it suitable for low voltage and battery operation, as well as other applications such as high speed comparator, window comparator and voltage level detector.

Application Field

The LM2901PW is ideal for use in system where a high speed comparison is needed. It can be used for voltage level detection and window comparator applications. It can also be used in hysteresis applications, thanks to its Schmitt Trigger inputs. Furthermore, the LM2901PW’s low power consumption makes it suitable for use in battery powered systems.

Working Principle

The LM2901PW offers three differential inputs, two common inputs and three output connections. The external signal is applied to the differential inputs, while the common inputs are used to provide reference voltages. The output connections are activated according to the comparison of the signal voltage at the one of the differential inputs to the corresponding reference voltage.

The LM2901PW uses an internal voltage regulator to provide precise output voltages. The LM2901PW also features two non-inverting and one inverting Schmitt Trigger inputs. When the level of the signal applied to the Schmitt Trigger input exceeds the level of the reference voltage, a change of in the output connection is triggered.

The LM2901PW offers two output configurations: open-drain and totem-pole. The open-drain configuration allows for lower power consumption, while the totem-pole configuration allows for higher speed response. The totem-pole configuration also provides a higher level of protection against electromagnetic interference.

The LM2901PW also features hysteresis. By applying a positive going and negative going reference voltage to the respective Schmitt Trigger inputs, the LM2901PW uses the hysteresis technique to maintain the output signal level. The hysteresis levels can be manually adjusted by changing the reference voltages.
