Working Principle
The LM2941CS includes an enable pin that allows it to be disabled or enabled when necessary. When enabled, the output voltage regulation is controlled by an internal resistor-divider reference. An internal comparator monitors the output voltage and keeps it within the specified tolerance by regulating the output current by means of a built in current limitation circuit. When the output voltage drops below the setting of the resistor-divider reference, the comparator turns on the output stage until the voltage reaches the reference setting again. The output current limiting is achieved through sensing the voltage drop across a series current limitation circuitry. This circuitry prevents excessive output currents from damaging the regulator. In case of over-current, the regulator will shut down and only be resettable through a power up reset. The device also features thermal protection circuitry that will shut off the regulator when it reaches an overheating state.
