<p>LM336Z25XA,a three-terminal voltage reference device with 2.5V nominal temperature coefficient of 30 ppm/&deg;C, is well-suited for many applications. LM336Z25XA includes a monolithic integrated circuit that is specifically designed for voltage reference/threshold detection applications. At its nominal temperature coefficient, it maintains a reference voltage of 2.5V, which is stable up to 18V in power supply ranges. But it should be noted that, at higher supply ranges the reference voltage of LM336Z25XA can vary significantly.</p><p>LM336Z25XA devices are available in an 8-pin mini-DIP (dual in-line) package. It can withstand an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and has a limited storage temperature range of -65°C to +150°C.</p><p>LM336Z25XA devices can be used in many applications, such as battery management and charging, analog-to-digital converters, temperature, time and voltage measurement, power and signal isolation, remote setup and adjustment, and powering regulated, low-voltage logic supplies. It is also used for thermal shutdown detectors and analog programmable references for very low power applications, for instance in portable medical devices and automotive body electronics.</p><p>The working principle of LM336Z25XA is based on the use of a precision bandgap voltage reference. A bandgap voltage reference consists of a diode connected transistor, an amplifier and a set of resistors. The diode connected transistor is used to generate a voltage proportional to its collector-base voltage. The voltage is then amplified using a differential amplifier and compared to the voltage generated by a voltage divider. When the two voltages are equal, the output of the reference is the bandgap voltage.
