The LM3578AN/NOPB is a high-frequency step-down switching regulator. This voltage regulator is part of Texas Instruments\' offering of power management integrated circuits (PMICs). These devices provide the capability to provide regulated output voltages ranging from 1.5V to 20V, depending on the model series. LM3578AN/NOPB devices are available in either plastic or small outline packages. This device is rated for an operating temperature range of -40° Celsius to +85°Celsius.

The LM3578AN/NOPB is designed for efficient, economical, light-load performance. Its pulse-width modulation (PWM) control circuitry maintains maximum efficiency over a wide range of load conditions. The device features a wide-input voltage range, allowing the use of inputs from 1V to 6.5V - accommodating battery powered, as well as DC-to-DC converter/inverter power sources. When used in battery-powered applications, the device provides very low quiescent current, increasing the battery life.

The LM3578AN/NOPB incorporates short-circuit protection and thermal shutdown features to provide protection from hazardous conditions. The device has a low internal PWM frequency of 500kHz, allowing for the use of low-cost components in the output filter circuitry. In addition, the LM3578AN/NOPB is RoHS-compliant and it offers compliance with the most stringent safety and EMC requirements.
