LM3691TL-1.2EV is a high-efficiency, capability in terms of both size and performance. It is suitable for use in a wide range of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. The LM3691TL-1.2EV can be used as an off-line switch-mode power supply (SMPS) controller for external power stage designs by providing comprehensive control and protection for electronic circuits.

LM3691TL-1.2EV is a high-performance controller which has a wide range of application fields including LED lighting, hot-plug power supplies, home appliances, LCD monitors, industrial control, instrumentation, audio/video systems, emergency lighting, UPS systems and automotive electronic systems. It supports the use of various magnetics, including fly-back, forward-mode and resonance-mode topologies. It works with low-cost and low-saturation power switches, such as MOSFETs, IGBTs or BJTs. It has a low power design and optimizes for conditions in terms of current flow, voltage and temperature.

As for the work principle, the LM3691TL-1.2EV is a low-power, cost-effective, high-efficiency DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It integrates current-mode PWM control with a minimum number of external components. It offers the user a wide range of features, such as over-voltage, overload, open-loop, short-circuit and over-temperature protection. It is capable of providing a wide range of output power levels up to 5 W, with output current and voltage ripple levels as low as 1% and 10% respectively. The working principle of LM3691TL-1.2EV starts with an input voltage of 150 VDC and 600 VDC, respectively. It then converts the input DC voltage to an alternating current using current-mode PWM control. The AC voltage output is then rectified and filtered, and a variable voltage and current is provided to the load.

The LM3691TL-1.2EV also has added protection functions such as line undervoltage lockout, output overvoltage, overload and short-circuit protection. The voltage is kept under control using an external feedback voltage divider connected to the output terminals. The current detect circuit is also provided to detect the overload status and control the switching cycle to protect the power MOSFETs and other components from any damage.
