The LM385BXMX-1.2/NOPB is an adjustable voltage reference device of a PMIC (Power Management IC) family, a Voltage Reference (VR).The LM385 series are commonly used often in precision circuits; they provide a constant, stable voltage to provide power to control circuits as reference. If a control circuit calls for a certain voltage but loses accuracy due to off-target originating voltage, the VR can bring the voltage down to the necessary level. It increases accuracy, stability, and repeatability.In terms of its actual construction, the LM385 series consists of two internally connected diodes, one resistor and two transistors in a 4-terminal TO-92 package. The first diode is a temperature-compensating forward biased diode, set to -1.2V. This is followed by a temperature-compensating resistor, and then two transistors. The first transistor is a current-limiting transistor, which acts to limit the current drawn off of the device in order to provide a more stable output. The second transistor is an EBC (Electron Barrier Current) transistor, set at a constant voltage drop, used as a voltage equalizer for power management across the LM385. The LM385 can be applied in a wide range of applications, such as in scientific instruments, digital voltage supplies, computers and peripherals, medical equipment, and telecommunications.
