The LM4946 ultra low noise stereo headset amplifier is a versatile, high-power analog signal processing device that is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as portable playback devices, mobile phones, music players, and wireless headsets. The LM4946 is designed for operation from a single supply of 2.7 V to 5.5 V and provides a maximum output power of up to 85 mW per channel. In addition, the LM4946 offers excellent low noise performance, high-performance low distortion, low power consumption, and a wide gain range of up to 30 dB.
The LM4946 has two sets of stereo inputs, one set of mono input, and one set of mono outputs. The mono output is ideal for headphone applications, while the stereo outputs can be used to drive both left and right speakers. The LM4946 features a built-in low-noise microphone preamplifier, a continuous-time low-noise distortion-free fourth-order filter, a built-in tracker and a bandwidth-extending 15kHz low-pass filter. These features make the LM4946 an ideal solution for a variety of audio applications.
The LM4946 has two distinct operational modes, Standby and Active modes. In Standby mode, the chip is power efficient and will reduce power consumption. In Active mode, the LM4946 is designed to deliver maximum output power, low-noise and distortion-free performance. The LM4946 can be configured to run in either the Active or Standby mode, depending on the application requirements.
In addition to providing excellent audio performance, the LM4946 also features an efficient power management system that allows for the reduction in overall power consumption. The power management system is designed to reduce the amount of power consumed when the chip is operating in Standby mode. Furthermore, the power management system includes a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller that regulates the amount of power consumed by the LM4946 while in Active mode.
The LM4946 is a highly integrated device that includes a variety of features such as a variable gain control, low-noise microphone preamplifier, wide-ranging continuous time low-noise distortion-free fourth-order filter, an adjustable frequency response and high output power. The LM4946 also supports multiple compression formats, including Dolby Digital Plus, MP3/AAC, DTS and AAC+. The LM4946 also has a low latency headphone interface and an advanced power management system.
By integrating many of the key components needed for a variety of audio applications, the LM4946 provides superior performance, high power output, low power consumption and excellent audio fidelity.
