LM78L12ACM/NOPB – Application Field and Working PrincipleLinear voltage regulators are a form of switched mode power supply used to power digital circuits and other devices which need a regulated voltage that remain constant throughout their operational lifetime. The LM78L12ACM/NOPB regulator is a 3-terminal linear Regulator, designed to provide 12V of output voltage while being able to handle up to 1A of current. The unit is part of National Semiconductor’s LM78xx series of linear regulators, which are designed for a wide range of applications.The LM78L12ACM/NOPB voltage regulator has a wide operating temperature range of 0 °C to 125 °C and is designed to operate with little to no noise or distortion. It has a low input voltage of 10V to 18V, making it suitable for applications with low voltage sources. Additionally, the LM78L12ACM/NOPB features a maximum output current of 1A and a low dropout voltage of 1.2V at 1A of load current.
