PMIC - Voltage Regulators - DC DC Switching Regulators are used to provide reliable and consistent power supply of electric loads. The LMR23630AFDDAR is a monolithic high-efficiency, synchronous buck regulator with integrated dual N-channel MOSFETs and optimized operating parameters. It operates over a wide input voltage range of 4V-18V and can deliver up to 4A current.The LMR23630AFDDAR is particularly suitable for applications where a high level of output precision and performance is required, such as point of load power supplies, telecommunications, industrial and medical equipment, etc. It offers high efficiency, low noise operation and small form factor, making it one of the most popular choices for high-performance power management applications.The key features of the LMR23630AFDDAR include adjustable switching frequency up to 1MHz, programmable soft-start, power good flag, programmable current limit, enable/disable input, and over-temperature protection. Its advanced design uses synchronous rectification scheme to improve the efficiency by as much as 96%, while still providing high output current capability and fast transient response.The LMR23630AFDDAR uses buck topology, meaning that its output voltage can be lower than its input voltage. The switching regulator has two synchronous power switches, an LDO (low dropout regulator), and an inductor that store energy for the output. The switching regulator is controlled by the control logic which regulates the output voltage using either a voltage-mode control loop or a current-mode control loop.When the enable pin is driven high, the output voltage is regulated with respect to the voltage reference. The current through the inductor is then switched on with one of the power switches (MOSFETs) when the voltage reference is greater than the output voltage level. The current changes direction when the output voltage is greater than the reference voltage, and the other power switch then turns on. The current-mode control loop will detect the voltage of the inductor, and based on this the control logic will adjust the gating signals to regulate the current through the inductor.The switching frequency, soft-start duration, voltage reference, and over current and over temperature protection parameters can be adjusted via external resistive regulators. The LMR23630AFDDAR is thermally enhanced, providing a very low thermal resistance profile that enables high power densities and more efficient operation. It is available in the industry-standard 8-pin SOIC package with lead-free plating for both green and non-green applications.In summary, the LMR23630AFDDAR is a high-performance synchronous buck regulator designed with advanced features to provide excellent efficiency and reliability for a wide range of point of load power supplies and telecommunications, industrial, and medical equipment.
