The LMR33620BRNXT is an integrated synchronous step-down DC-DC switching regulator, providing up to 3 A of output current in a wide variety of applications. It is designed to support both synchronous and non-synchronous rectification topologies, with a wide input voltage range of 2.7 to 22 V. It is a fully-featured regulator with current mode control, integrated circuit and temperature protection, enable control, and adjustable operating frequency.

The application field of the device are battery-powered portable designs with a single Li-ion cell, as well as higher voltage input systems with multiple cells, such as 3 and 5 V applications. The device also includes an integrated low-dropout linear regulator (LDO), which can be configured to operate from the same input voltage as the buck regulator, through several integrated components. This feature enables powering multiple outputs from a single cell and simplifies the design of the power system.

The device uses a synchronous rectifier to reduce power losses when the input voltage is higher than the output voltage. By operating in the continuous mode, it ensures good transient response and improved efficiency at light loads. The output voltage can be set to any value within a wide range of 0.8 V to 16 V through an external resistor divider or via a serial I2C interface.

The LMR33620BRNXT’s internal current-mode control is designed to provide excellent line and load transient responses, while minimizing the size and cost of external components. The current limit is adjustable with a single external resistor, and can be overclocked up to 4 A to enable higher power solutions.

The LMR33620BRNXT also includes a programmable input UVLO and an output over-voltage protection, offering good protection against device damage due to unexpected input conditions and output faults. The device features internal circuit protection, including thermal shutdown and current limit.

The device is housed in a low-profile, space-saving 3 mm x 3 mm WDFN package, making it an ideal choice for high-end portable and wearable applications.
