Evaluation boards, such as DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS, are essential in the development of evaluation of power supplies. The LMR33630ADDAEVM board is a complete power converter evaluation module designed to evaluate the performance of the LMR33630B synchronous step-down DC/DC regulator. The LMR33630ADDAEVM board provides for the evaluation of the control, protection, and efficiency features of the LMR33630B device in a wide range of applications.

The LMR33630ADDAEVM board operates from a 6.5V to 36V input, providing an adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 5V and as high as 10A output current. The LMR33630ADDAEVM board is easy to evaluate and configure, using the EasyEval system designed by National Semiconductor. The EasyEval system is an integrated graphical user interface (GUI) built around the LMR33630ADDAEVM board and the LMR33630B device. The system allows easy evaluation and configuration of the LMR33630ADDAEVM board’s dynamic response, protection features, switching parameters, and fault control settings.

The LMR33630ADDAEVM board features an adjustable output current limit and an adjustable output over-voltage protection trip point. The board also implements a programmable skip-mode control feature that allows the user to define the optimal load current for highest efficiency and lowest output ripple. The board also features a true soft-start feature, allowing for an adjustable current slew rate up to a maximum of 2A/microsecond.

The board also features an integrated thermal foldback protection, allowing the current limit to dynamically track the junction temperature. The integrated thermal shutdown circuit will activate when the ambient temperature reaches 85C, further protecting the board from over-temperature conditions. The board also features an integrated PMBus interface, allowing for quick and easy communication with the system’s monitoring and control system, if required.

The LMR33630ADDAEVM board utilizes a proprietary synchronous buck switching converter topology, allowing the board to achieve high-efficiency operation at a wide input voltage range. The board has been designed with input and output filtering capacitors to reduce noise and ripple in the system. The board also features an integrated synchronous rectifier design, reducing the power dissipation in the regulator.

The LMR33630ADDAEVM is the ideal solution for Evaluation of the LMR33630B regulator in SMPS applications.
