The LMR33630CDDAEVM is an evaluation module for the Texas Instruments LMR33630C high switching frequency, 600V, 3A flyback converter in a small form factor. This evaluation module (EVM) is based on the design formulas for the LMR33630C series, a controller IC, and provides an evaluation platform for the design and optimization of power-conversion applications. The LMR33630CDDAEVM is best suited for general-purpose off-line power converters such as those found in consumer, commercial, and embedded applications.
The LMR33630CDDAEVM includes an isolated flyback converter circuit that employs the high-performance LMR33630C-based control IC to ensure high efficiency and minimal external-component count. At the same time, robust short-circuit protection, accentuated parasitic-noise damping, low operating current, and low standby power consumption all make for an efficient, low-cost solution. The EVM builds on the features of the LMR33630C series, which includes an adjustable peak-current-mode control loop, a high-bandwidth (>55kHz) voltage-control loop, optimized on-time compensation, and an integrated compensation-components calculator. By changing resistor values, the EVM can be configured to different operating and control parameters.
The onboard components associated with the LMR33630CDDAEVM are featured on the underside of the PCB board. This includes the output inductor, EMI filter, power supply components, decoupling components, and control circuitry. The main components on the main side are the electrical connectors, IC package, and output diode. Most of these components are used to operate and control the internal converter as well as provide different characteristics to the user. The working principle behind the LMR33630CDDAEVM is based on the control feedback loop integrated within the LMR-33630C IC package. This control loop allows the LMR-33630C to operate in peak-current mode, providing an adjustable output over a wide temperature range and a wide variety of operating conditions. The integrated low-frequency voltage-control loop provides high-efficiency and fast transient response to any output load change, while the optimized on-time compensation ensures stable operation under any load condition. Additionally, the compensated output voltage can be precisely maintained to within 0.5%, while the efficiency is typically better than 92%.
