Working Principle of LMV431AIM5X

The LMV431AIM5X is a two-terminal shunt voltage reference designed to achieve excellent output voltage accuracy and maximum stability. It is based on a band-gap reference circuit and uses a precision voltage regulator configuration to provide a stable, low-dropout output. It is capable of ensuring extremely precise voltage regulation and fast transient response. The output voltage is generated by comparing the reference voltage (VREF) of 1.23V with the feedback voltage (FB) supplied to the non-inverting input of the internal comparator. This 1.23V reference is derived from a precision band-gap reference circuit. When the comparator detects a voltage difference between the reference, it will send a signal to the open-drain N-channel output transistor, which in turn will force the output voltage (Vout) to track the 1.23V reference with a very low drop-out, typically 10µA.

The LMV431AIM5X is an internally trimmed device that does not require any external components for its operation. The device features an on-chip temperature compensation circuit capable of compensating for temperature variations over a wide range of operating conditions. This ensures maximum stability over a wide range of temperatures and tolerates line and load changes.
