The LNK4013S-TL is a high-performance monolithic Power Interface Circuit (PIC) from Power Integrations that combines a two-channel high-voltage high-current (HVC) switch, high-voltage Power Factor Correction (PFC) circuit, low-voltage High Current Switch (LSC) circuit, and an integrated gate driver into one single-chip solution. This PIC, designed for use in Power Factor Correction (PFC) applications and DC-DC, AC-DC, and offline switching converters, provides higher efficiency, quieter operation, and the ability to easily integrate accessories.

Working principle

The LNK4013S-TL offers two channels driven by a single-chip driver with a power-ON reset. The high-voltage high-current (HVC) channel is used to drive the primary side of the power converter and the low-voltage high-current switch (LSC) channel is used to drive the secondary side. The HVC channel is designed to be capable of operating both as a single-phase boost PFC circuit and as a half-bridge or full-bridge DC/DC converter. The LSC channel can be powered directly from the output of the PFC converter and can be used to drive both a half-bridge or a full-bridge converter.

The integrated gate driver of the LNK4013S-TL consists of a fast turn-on/turn-off circuit that prevents switching losses, and it provides excellent voltage/current edges as well as high immunity against many power noise sources. The high peak current capability of the integrated driver helps to reduce total system cost and space requirement. It also helps to reduce current stress on the power MOSFETs and minimizes the need for an external bootstrap capacitor.

In addition, the LNK4013S-TL includes the ability to monitor and control the output voltage of the converter. The Power Integrations internal ORing electronic fuse, OTC (Over Temperature Control) prevents the power converter from overloading, as well as having protection features against a variety of possible fault conditions, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, and overtemperature conditions.
