LNK460KG is a highly integrated and efficient Power Factor Correction (PFC) and switch mode current regulator Constant Current Boost LED driver from Power Integrations. It is optimized for powering high current single LED or multiple LED chains in series. The device has unique features such as integrated frequency jitter, featuring the InnoSwitch3 design which enables the system to operate at high frequency with an average current mode control. It also ensures boost converter outputs with low EMI through spread spectrum and valley switching techniques. So, LNK460KG is widely used in AC/DC lighting product applications, such as incandescent lamps, low voltage halogen lamps, MR16 lamps, GU10 lamps and 3W-20W E27 bulbs and other LED lighting products.

The LNK460KG integrates a 600V power switch, PFC circuit, over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protections, allowing direct connection to mains and eliminating the need for an auxiliary power supply circuit. The switching frequency of theBoost converter is user adjustable through an external resistor, allowing for flexible operation between 50 kHz and 250 kHz. An external VCC capacitor allows for optimized ripple current ratings for high power applications and an external current sense resistor allows for controlling the output current from 50 mA to 1.3 A (typical).

The LNK460KG is specially designed with the InnoSwitch3 architecture and advanced digital control techniques to provide intelligently optimized attributes in PFC and constant-current Boost LED driver products. The optimized PFC has very low THD and high power factor. The constant-current Boost Converter has a wide input voltage range and high efficiency and is capable of supporting two different output current ranges. With the full protection functions, it is available to work in a wide temperature range.

The unique InnoSwitch3 design enables the system to operate at high frequency with an average current mode control. This allows the system to attain near ideal efficiency due to the combination of spread spectrum switching and valley switching techniques. These techniques enable the system to reduce the total harmonic distortion below 10%, whereas other traditional LED driver solutions may generate more than 20% of harmonic distortion, which can cause interference in other radio frequency systems. Furthermore, the optimized frequency jittering technique enables the system to reduce the capacitance requirement and further reduces its system cost.

The LNK460KG is suitable for use in multiple lighting applications, such as MR16 lamps, GU10 lamps, 3W-20W E27 bulbs, low-voltage halogen lamps, and incandescent lamps. It can also be used in other LED lighting products requiring high power, high efficiency, and high reliability. Additional features include thermal and overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and a wide normal operating temperature range. Furthermore, the LNK460KG provides full PFC function, constant current operation, and an adjustable operating frequency between 50kHz and 250kHz.
