LP3936SL Application Field and Working Principle

As one of the mainstream of LED drivers, LP3936SL has rich application fields and popular with many design engineers. Application Field
The LP3936SL is a high efficiency, low noise and highly integrated integrated power management controller specially designed for LED lighting. It is composed of a high-voltage boost converter, a low-voltage buck converter, a low-voltage programmable current source (PCS), and a low-voltage regulator. It is mainly used in LED lighting applications such as downlight, spotlight, and street light.
The boost converter has a wide input voltage range (from 2.6V to 16V) and can drive 8 LEDs with constant current. It is embedded with a Soft-start circuit to prevent overshoot in the start-up phase. The buck converter is also embedded with a Soft-start circuit and can drive up to 16 LEDs with constant current. It also has a wide input voltage range (from 3V to 16V) and is capable of providing up to 1A of current.
The PCS is used to program the LED current. It provides an adjustable current range of 1μA to 32mA. It also has a wide input voltage range (from 1.5V to 16V). Working Principle
LP3936SL consists of a boost converter, a buck converter, a PCS and a low-voltage regulator. The boost converter consists of a MOSFET, an inductor and a capacitor. The buck converter consists of a MOSFET, an inductor, a diode and a capacitor.
