LP3963ESX-1.8 employs a standard buck-type topology in order to regulate the output voltage. The device is supplied by a single lithium cell battery and the switching transistor is biased with a regulated reference voltage. During normal operations, the transistor is switched on and off periodically, thus allowing for the voltage regulation with an output ripple voltage of less than 10mV. The voltage regulation is achieved by monitoring the feedback voltage signal at the Output terminal. This signal is then compared to the Voltage reference, generated by a band-gap voltage reference. When the feedback voltage exceeds the Voltage reference, the transistor is switched off and the output voltage is reduced. Conversely, when the feedback voltage is lower than the Voltage reference, the transistor is switched on and the output voltage is increased.Conclusion
