Snap Action Limit Switches
A limit switch is an electrical switch mechanism. It is a type of mechanical switch that is used to at certain predetermined points of an electrical system. The limit switch is a specially designed and robust device that is normally used in industrial and hazardous environments, as a safety device or as a controller device. It is usually found in electrical machines, such as power tools, pumps, conveyors and motorized valves.
The LSE1A is a type of snap action limit switch. The snapshot limit switch is a mechanical switch, means when an external force is applied to its actuator, it can move to a predetermined position and trigger a signal. The signal can be programmed to activate an alarm, open or close an electrical circuit or start or stop a machine operation.
Application Field
Snap action limit switches are often found in dangerous environments, such as oil and gas fields, hazardous industrial plants, construction sites, and places that are exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, dust and dirt.
These switches are also often used for controlling machinery operations and alarms. They are often used in automated systems, such as automatic door controllers, automated machine controllers and automated warehouse systems.
Working Principle
Snap action limit switches are made up of four main components: a body, an actuator, an electrically conductive contact, and an electromagnetic coil. The body is a metal or plastic casing that contains all the components of the switch. The actuator is the part of a switch that is operated manually or by an external force. The electrically conductive contact is the part of the switch that conducts electrical current when the switch is in the operative position. It is typically made from metal such as copper or brass. The electromagnetic coil is responsible for controlling the movement of the switch, and is typically made from copper wire or iron.
In operation, when the switch is in the activated position, the actuator is pushed or pulled, causing the electrically conductive contact to come into contact with the electromagnetic coil. This causes a brief current surge, which causes the electromagnetic coil to become energized, creating a magnetic field which causes the switch to move to the off or reset position.
