In limit and control circuits, the switch can be used to sense whether or not a target has been reached, or to limit the distance or speed of an object. In safety circuits, the switch can be used to detect an out-of-range condition or emergency stop.

The switch can be mounted in several ways, including panel, base or body mounting, or flange mounting. It can be used with a variety of materials including steel, brass, plastic, aluminum, and stainless steel. The switch has a maximum current rating of 16A and a maximum voltage rating of 250VAC and 32VDC.
