LT1054CP is a kind of DC DC switching regulator specifically designed with frequency asynchronous buck topology that provides highly integrated power conversion solution with excellent efficiency and performance while occupying limited board space. It specific features include :

Working Principles
The LT1054CP is built on a unique switching architecture that provides very high efficiency in a small package. It utilizes a constant frequency, current mode control that provides adjustable voltage regulation with fast transient response and excellent line and load regulation. The switching frequency is internally set between 250kHz to 500kHz typically. Its output voltage is adjustable with special capacitor networks and its input voltage range is up to 42V.
The LT1054CP operates with peak current mode control, which consists of three stages : compare, drive and latch. At the compare stage it senses the Error Amplifier output and the Voltage Feedback Ramp to generate the maximum duty cycle controlled by the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) comparator. It then passes the signal to the drive stage where the logic level signal is translated into the PWM output to control the on/off operation of the power MOSFET.
At the last stage, the latch, the gate signal of the MOSFET is inverted, allowing for continuous operation of the circuit even at low duty cycles. This process is continuous and happens at a rate determined by the external clock (8-500kHz). This ensures the output voltage remains constant despite load changes and line variations.
