LT3032EDE#PBF employs a synchronous buck regulator topology. It is composed of a voltage controlled high-side switch, a low-side switch, and a discharge transistor that is controlled by an internal pre-programmed current limit sense resistor. The switches are turned on and off by an internal control logic circuit.The voltage-controlled high-side switch is used to charge up a power inductor with the input voltage. The inductor then stores energy during the on-time of the switch. The inductor is then discharged through the low-side switch, a power MOSFET, to the output voltage rail. The discharge transistor is used to discharge the output capacitor when the switch is off for ripple reduction.When the output load varies, the regulation control circuit adjusts the on-time of the switch to maintain the output voltage within the desired range.
