The LT3579IFE#TRPBF is a high efficiency, low noise DC/DC switching regulator. It is designed to provide excellent performance in a variety of applications, ranging from isolated converters, to low noise regulated supplies, to point-of-load regulators. The LT3579IFE#TRPBF is a synchronous buck regulator capable of delivering up to 5A of output current. It has a wide input voltage range of 2.2V to 28V and an adjustable output voltage range of 0.8V to 5.5V. It also features excellent line and load regulation, low noise operation, and fast transient response.
The LT3579IFE#TRPBF is ideal for a variety of applications including communications systems, automotive systems, and embedded systems. In communication systems, it can be used for reference regulation in sequencing, voltage tracking, and remote sensing driver circuits. In automotive applications, it can be used for battery monitoring or voltage level shifting applications. The LT3579IFE#TRPBF is a versatile switching regulator, with a wide range of functional features including a voltage mode control, with internal compensation, to provide fast transient response, and low output noise, and cycle-by-cycle current limit, which allows for higher peak current delivery, while maintaining output voltage regulation, and pulse frequency modulation/modulation (PFM/PWM) with fixed-frequency operation. The PFM/PWM mode can be set to either Automatic PWM/PFM or Manual PWM/PFM mode.
The LT3579IFE#TRPBF also includes undervoltage lockout and a power good signal to indicate when the output voltage is within the appropriate range. It has a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and is available in a 16-lead TSSOP package.
The working principle of the LT3579IFE#TRPBF consists of two stages, the input stage and the output stage. In the input stage, an internal high-side N-channel MOSFET switch controls the voltage on the input pin, allowing for efficient high frequency switching between VIN and GND. At the same time, an internal N-channel MOSFET switch is used in the output stage, allowing current to flow from the input pin to the output pin at a rate determined by the size of the internal MOSFET switch.
The LT3579IFE#TRPBF also has an enable pin which allows the user to control when the device is enabled or disabled. The device can be powered up, or powered down, using a logic-high on the enable pin. Additionally, the enable pin can be used to control shutdown prior to power loss, in order to protect the load from overvoltage.
