LT3782EFE#PBF Application Field and Working PrincipleThe LT3782EFE#PBF integrated circuit from Linear Technology is an incomplete device that requires external components for requisite circuit functionality. In its normal operating mode, the LT3782EFE#PBF accepts input voltage up to the selected Vin max and produces a tightly regulated output voltage, Vout. When the output voltage exceeds a programmable overvoltage threshold, the LT3782EFE#PBF shuts down the switching regulator and sets the output to the selectable overvoltage threshold. The overvoltage/overcurrent threshold can be programmed with two external resistors on overvoltage pin. As long as the input voltage remains within the specified limits, the output stays at the programmed overvoltage threshold and the IC remains in the overvoltage lockout mode.
The LT3782EFE#PBF has a low quiescent current of 7 µA and delivers up to 5 A of continuous output current with a minimum 6 µA operating current. It also features an overcurrent limit provides protection against output overload, overvoltage protection and over temperature protection, as well as an open drain fault output providing a visual indication on the status of the IC. In addition, the LT3782EFE#PBF’s fixed-frequency PWM operation enables it to maintain efficiency even in discontinuous conduction mode, allowing it to meet or exceed Energy Star efficiency requirements and extending the operating temperature range to 150°C.
