The reference voltage is used to calibrate the circuit and the internal register adjusts the reference voltage to a suitable level so as to obtain the best accuracy. The overall resolution of the ADC is 8-bits which allows the input voltage to be divided into 256 steps. The data acquired is then sent to the digital outputs which are used to drive the LEDs and other digital devices.
