The LTC1556CGN#PBF belongs to a family of logic-translators, level shifters and other transfer-level devices developed by Linear Technology that are commonly used in standard interfacing applications. The LTC1556CGN#PBF is a part of the Transceiver series and is a voltage-level translator that enables the transfer of logic signals between devices operating at different voltage levels. It has two sides, A and B, and is designed to identify the correct logic-level on each side and perform the signal conversion so as to ensure enhanced data transfer between various devices. The signal is transferred between the devices in either direction, depending upon the logic of the entire circuit.The signal transmission is based on the pulse width modulation concept, wherein the signal transfer time is limited to a specific time period during each cycle, thus enabling the signal to be adapted from side A to side B in a predefined manner. The logic-level sensitivity of the device is in the range of 1.4V to 1.6V for inputs and 0V to 3.3V for outputs. The product is available in a variety of package sizes and is capable of operating in a wide range of operating temperature ranging from -40°C to +85°C. The LTC1556CGN#PBF is apt for use in consumer electronics, industrial control, medical instruments and other applications where signal synchronization is critical. The device can be used in bi-directional communication, data transfer, signal conversion, buffering and load isolation between various different voltage-level devices.It is also suitable for various data converters and protocols, such as RS-232, Universal Serial Bus (USB), CAN Bus Protocol (CAN), I2C and various other automotive protocols. On the input side, the signal voltage is converted from logic-level 1 to logic-level 0. On the output side, the signal voltage is converted from logic-level 0 to logic-level 1. The device comes with a built-in power-on reset feature that ensures proper operation of the device on power-up. The device also includes an integrated schmidt trigger circuit which is used to reduce or eliminate the noise or jitter in the input signals.
