The LTC1705EGN is a monolithic dual 2A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter specifically designed for automotive applications. This integrated device features a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 36V and ultra-low quiescent current for the two simultaneously enabled regulators. Working Principle
The LTC1705EGN is a dual 2A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter which allows two simultaneously enabled regulators with ultra-low quiescent current. It is designed using a special high-efficiency architecture which significantly improves power conversion efficiency and reduced board space.
It contains two high-efficiency, synchronous buck channels controlled by internal error amplifiers for regulating the output voltage. In order to increase the output ripple rejection, the error amplifiers include an integrator and a low-pass filter. The output voltage is adjustable down to 0.9V, enabling a higher number of applications.
For each channel, the power good signal is externally available, indicating when the output is regulated. Furthermore, the LTC1705EGN provides an external control pin to adjust the output voltage of one of the two channels, thus optimizing the power conversion efficiently according to the application requirements.
The integrated short-circuit protection feature is based on a sense-FET and current-limit circuitry that monitors the output current. It also offers an adjustable over-voltage protection for each channel, including an adjustable under-voltage protection for the second channel. To protect the device from being exposed to an excessive temperature, an internal overtemperature shut-down circuitry is included.
The LTC1705EGN also features a low dropout mode allowing low current operation from a long off-time to reduce quiescent current. This monolithic dual synchronous DC/DC converter is an ideal device for providing efficient and reliable power conversion in a small form factor.
