The primary application of the LTC2900-1IDD#TRPBF is to monitor a supply voltage to detect faults in the system voltage. The working principle of the LTC2900-1IDD#TRPBF is to monitor a target voltage continuously, and as soon as a fault is detected, it triggers an open-drain reset output. The reset output remains asserted until the voltage condition is removed and then it de-asserts, allowing normal system operation to continue. It has three threshold levels for comparison of the monitored voltage and the corresponding reset output timings are set by external resistors.

The LTC2900-1IDD#TRPBF offers adjustable reset threshold detection down to 2.417V and up to 6.8V for ultra-low power systems, and it can drive up to 500mA peak sink current. It also features an overcurrent detector, that sets a preset reset threshold when specified conditions are met. The OC detector output can be connected to other monitoring circuits.

The LTC2900-1IDD#TRPBF comes with a window watchdog timer functionality, which allows fast fault detection and reset. The window watchdog timer implements an internal timer to detect if a monitored voltage fails to transition within a predetermined window timer. The watchdog window also provides a reset pulse whenever the monitor voltage is outside of the predetermined range.

The LTC2900-1IDD#TRPBF can be used in a wide range of applications to protect sensitive electronics from voltage and current fluctuations, offering a single wire system reset solution. It is available in a 8-pin micro SMD package and requires only a single external resistor for operation. Operating from a 1.5V to 5.5V power supply, the device can deliver a reset output at a source-sink current of up to 500mA.
