The LTC3707EGN-SYNC#PBF is a dual step-down DC-to-DC controller designed for efficient use of power in a variety of applications. It is one of the members of the LTC373x family of switching controllers, which is a family of Analog Devices’ latest high performance synchronous buck controllers. This device consists of two independent, high efficiency, and high current capable buck controllers. The two buck controllers operate from input supplies up to 14 V, and are designed to deliver up to an amazing 6A. The output voltage of each of the two buck controllers can be adjusted independently, and they can also operate in either continuous or discontinuous inductor current mode.

Working Principle

The LTC3707EGN-SYNC#PBF is a two-phase synchronous buck controller which operates off an input voltage range up to 14 V to produce an output voltage. The two controllers feature an adjustable switching frequency up to 2 MHz and can be operated as a single-phase regulator, or as two-phase regulators with each output operated independently. The controller also includes an adjustable current limit that ensures that the power device does not enter into the maximum current limits even at light load.

Apart from the features discussed above, the controller incorporates a number of integrated features to ensure high efficiency and superior system performance. The maximum power point tracking feature enables the controller to transfer whatever available depends to the load and maintains light loads by automatically adjusting the load current to ensure maximum efficiency. Additionally, it also has an enable control pin to shut off unused controller, an integrated soft start feature to prevent large inrush currents at start up, and an Under-Voltage Lockout (UVLO) to ensure that the system does not operate below the safe voltage range.
