With its advanced features, the LTC3880EUJ-1#TRPBF ensures improved system stability as well as improved system efficacy. The device has a wide output voltage range of 0.71 V with step resolution of 10 mV and Output Voltage accuracy of +/-1%. It is suitable for very dense systems like Infiniband and other Optical switching modules, base station power systems and advanced server applications with multiple output voltages that need to use a minimum number of components. The LTC3880EUJ-1#TRPBF comes in a small 8-lead TSSOP package, has an operational temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is programmable via the inductor-current sensing technique.Features

Working Principle of the LTC3880EUJ-1#TRPBF
The working principle of the LTC3880EUJ-1#TRPBF is based on the use of an inductor. In essence, the device simply alternately turns on and off the high side and low side power MOSFETs in order to transfer energy from the input to the output. When the power MOSFETs are in the off state, the inductor stores the energy from the input voltage and, when the transistors are switched on, it delivers the stored energy to the output. The device has two control loops that can be used to program the output voltage and regulate the output current. The first control loop is the voltage control loop. This is responsible for setting the desired output voltage, using feedback from the output voltage divider network. The voltage control loop monitors the error amplifier output and compensates with changes in duty cycle to maintain the output voltage set point. The second control loop is the current limit control loop. This loop monitors the inductor current and prevents the output current from exceeding the programmed current limit by reducing the average inductor current when the programmed limit is exceeded. In addition to the two independent control loops, the device also includes several protection features. These include input overvoltage protection, current limit, power enabled logic, over temperature protection and crossover protection.Applications
