.Power management integrated circuits (PMIC) are specialized integrated circuits that typically combine several highly efficient power control functions into a single device. An on-board charge controller senses the battery’s charge state and adjusts the charging parameters appropriately. Additionally, its built-in Low Loss differential Remote Sense Amplifier eliminates the need for an external sense resistor to reduce power loss in long wiring applications. The device comes with integrated short circuit and overheating protection and includes a precision voltage reference to ensure accurate charging voltage.
In addition to the state-of-the-art synchronous buck converter, the LTC4098EPDC#PBF incorporates two low-dropout linear regulators. The first is an adjustable output regulator which provides power to the system in compliance with the VBUS input voltage specification. The other is a fixed output regulator, which provides a predetermined system voltage for proper system operation. Both of the linear regulators have a low dropout voltage, making them ideal for applications where power savings are important.
The LTC4098EPDC#PBF also features two configurable switches, which can be used to control the power supply to the system.
