Working Principle

The LTC4162IUFD-LAD#TRPBF works by managing the state of charge and life cycle of the battery pack. It uses a boost pre-regulator, two Buck regulators, System Load Protection circuit, programmable charge termination circuit, a temperature sensor and a customer selectable output voltage.

The Boost pre-regulator increases the output voltage from the battery pack and the two Buck regulators convert the boosted voltage to the customer-selectable output voltage. The Programmable Charge Termination circuit detects the end of charging and the System Load Protection circuit protects the battery from high currents. The device also features an internal temperature sensor for monitoring the battery during charging and discharging.
