The LTC4413EDD-2#TRPBF is a PMIC - OR Controllers device from Linear Technologies. It is an ideal diode that integrates a low dropout linear regulator (LDO) and two advanced N-channel MOSFETs OR-ed together. The device has two unique features - low quiescent current and on-board OR-ing diode which provide the required current levels to critical power supplies in portable applications.The working principle of a LTC4413EDD-2#TRPBF is as follows. During normal operation, VOUT is supplied by the LDO output and the two MOSFETs will remain in the off state. The maximum VOUT is limited by the LDO output if an input voltage greater than the LDO output is applied. This arrangement allows the device to operate in a low power state by using the low quiescent current LDO regulator and prevent the device from getting over saturated with the MOSFETs turned off. In the event of an input overload, the LDO output will start to drop below VOUT and the internal circuitry of the LTC4413EDD-2#TRPBF will detect this and then activate the two integrated OR-ed MOSFETs. This will allow the additional current to be delivered from an alternate source to the VOUT to keep it supplied at the desired level. The advantage of this design is that the two OR-ed MOSFETs provide a low-resistance path between the input and the output, allowing more current to be delivered to the VOUT than the LDO output can provide. This allows the device to be used in applications where high transient current or high load supply is needed without the need for a separate MOSFET or Schottky diode.The device is available in an SO-8 package and has a fairly wide range of operating conditions, with a maximum input voltage range of 4.5 V to 26V, operating temperature between 0° to 125°C. Furthermore, it also includes short circuit protection, reverse voltage protection, and over-temperature protection.
