When the device reaches its pre-set trip level, the temperature increases rapidly due to the positive temperature coefficient causing the device to trip and break the connection, thus interrupting the current flow.

Once the device trips the current flow is interrupted and the device cools off. As the device cools off the internal thermal triggered switch resets itself and the device is ready to be used again. The LVR005S-2 can be cycled an unlimited number of times without any permanent degradation of the device.
