PTC (positive temperature coefficient) resettable fuses are electrical components designed to prevent the overcurrent fault by disconnecting the circuit when it detects an overloaded current. The LVR040K is one of the most popular PTC fuses and is used in various applications.
LVR040K Application Field
The LVR040K PTC resettable fuse is widely used in different applications such as temperature compensation circuits, protective circuits, overvoltage circuits, overcurrent circuits, overcharge and discharge circuits. It is highly recommended for circuit protection in AC-DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, as well as industrial equipment like UPS, welding machines, solar eye protectors, smoke detectors, and so on. The fuse can be used in both lower and higher voltages, and it has a low internal resistance.
Working Principle of LVR040K
LVR040K works by taking advantage of the property of materials known as the positive temperature coefficient (PTC). When the thermal resistance of the material senses overload current for a certain amount of time, the material will heat up and increase its resistance. This in turn interrupts the power flow in the circuit and the circuit is disconnected from the power source until the material cools down.
The PTC material of LVR040K is placed inside a metal housing. The rated active current is passing through the fuse and the surface of the PTC material is heated according to the overload current. The features of LVR040K include high breaking capacity, low insertion loss, high re-start current and fast reaction speed. It is also capable of withstanding high temperatures and it is easy to install.
LVR040K PTC resettable fuse is a reliable and efficient way to protect circuits from overcurrents. It is an ideal choice for low voltage and high voltage applications and it is cost-effective too.
