LX1660CD

Introduction

LX1660CD is a type of chip specialized for low drop-out regulator (LDO), it is used in multiple scenarios, like powering up power supplies with adjustable output, LED backlight drivers, battery charging and management, storing energy and energy harvesters, MCU and PC board supports for portable electronic equipments, etc.

Application Field

LX1660CD is a highly efficient, low cost LDOs, it is suitable for applications with low output current and operating voltage, such as LED backlight driver, power supply, MCU, etc. It has low drop-out voltage over a wide operating range, which can achieve higher power efficiency and is suitable for low power LED replacement applications. It can also be used as part of a system-on-chip (SoC).

LX1660CD is capable of adjusting the output voltage of the internal regulator to meet output requirements by adjusting the internal feedback control pin. It can also effectively solve the few adjustable output voltage problem, so as to make LX1660CD as more users with an optional choice of output regulating voltage.

The main target application of LX1660CD includes but not limited to portable electronic equipment, communication products, audio/visual products and consumer electronic product, such as digital camera, video camera, cellular phone, musical player, etc.

Working Principle

Based on the BD2P03LF typical circuit as below, LX1660CD works as a low dropout voltage regulator, where P04 and P05 control the voltage output and the output is regulated by feedback principle: Vout=Vref+Vctl. Vref is the reference voltage and Vctl is the controlled voltage. When the output voltage is lower than the set value, P05 works and increases the voltage output, whereas when the output voltage is higher than the set value, P05 decrease the voltage output.

P04 and P05 connect to FB1, its output is running inside the integrated circuit, under the controlled by feedback loop of the internal current. FB1 voltage is proportional to Vref, so the output voltage is related to Vref voltage. The voltage controlled by Vref and some internal transistor combinations, its voltage range is from 0.9V to 1.25V.

The LX1660CD is capable of achieving a drop-out voltage as low as 200mV. During its operating, it will be noiseless as its inherent frequency compensation circuit help in controlling the quiescent current, it eliminate output capacitor while also help in saving circuit space and enhance the system\'s efficiency.
