Application Field of the LX1912 Evaluation Kit
The LX1912 is designed for applications requiring a wide range of output voltages, current output, and type of power supply stages. The kit supports a wide variety of AC input voltage, from 85Vrms to 265Vrms, while providing up to 550W of continuous output power. The kit can also be used for applications, such as metering and monitoring, video/security, medical equipment, and more.
Working Principle of the LX1912 Evaluation Kit
The LX1912 Evaluation kit combines the latest switching power supply technologies with high efficiency and low noise topologies to create a complete system. The kit consists of the following components: Converter Control IC, Power Factor Correction IC, Power Management IC, Synchronous Rectifier, and Adaptive Soft Start.
The high efficiency and low-noise operation of the LX1912 is enabled by the innovative control topology employed in the kit. The kit adopts a novel hybrid relative power topology combining peak current and power factor correction methods. The Conversion Control IC performs peak current control in order to optimize the efficiency of the power supply even under heavy load conditions. Simultaneously, the Power Factor Correction IC monitors the current and voltage waveforms and performs the needed adjustments in order to maintain a high power factor.
The synchronous rectifier integrated in the LX1912 Evaluation kit uses an advanced active clamp technique in order to reduce the switching losses without sacrificing the efficiency. The Sync rectifier uses MOSFETs with fast turn-off times and low power dissipation, allowing for an optimized output voltage regulation with minimal power losses.
The LX1912 is also equipped with an Adaptive Soft Start circuit. This circuit controls the output voltage transitions during the start-up phase and ramps up the voltage gradually to reduce inrush current to the load. In addition, the Adaptive Soft Start circuit also provides current and temperature protection for controlling the output voltage in overload and short-circuit conditions.
