The LX1918 EVAL KIT is an evaluation board and design tool that offers a comprehensive view of the working principle and application field of power supplies. It is a self-contained ready-to-use unit, designed to provide all the necessary components and circuitry necessary for proper evaluation and design of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. The kit includes all the support infrastructure required to properly evaluate the LX1918\'s performance and output, as well as providing a step-by-step guide to the design process.
In terms of power supply operation, the LX1918 EVAL KIT acts as a step-down switching regulator. At present, the board is able to regulate current up to 5A, with output voltage range of 1.5-22V. This voltage range can be adjusted to fit the user’s needs by using the onboard adjustable multiplier and reference. The switching frequency for the board is adjustable in the range from 100kHz to 1MHz.
The board includes a SyncFET technology, allowing the LX1918 to become the most efficient power supply available on the market – up to 97%. Moreover, the SyncFET of the board enables fast transient response with extremely low output ripple. Its built-in emulated RCD diode ensure superior protection and reliability when powering FPGA, MCU, and other sensitive applications.
The board also provides built-in charger safety features as well, including an adjustable soft start that helps optimize efficiency, and a UVLO (Under Voltage Lock Out) mode that cuts power during over-current or short circuit conditions. The LX1918 also includes a load disconnect feature, which allows it to be safely turned off without disrupting any downstream connected devices.
The LX1918 Evaluation Kit makes it easy to quickly and accurately set up, test, and adjust the inputs, outputs, and feedback loops of the board. It features a series of onboard switches and trimmers that provide quick access to the parameters of the board. It also includes a data acquisition system, allowing users to log data from the board while it is in operation. All information is stored in non-volatile memory for easy recall and comparison. In addition, it includes a set of powerful software tools for monitoring and further tuning the board’s robust power supply features.
