Application Fields

The LYT5225D can be used for high-performance AC/DC conversion and offline power supply solutions in industrial control, home appliances, consumer electronics, automotive, healthcare and other application fields. It is a complete off-line implementation with both primary and secondary sides integrated. It has an integrated high efficiency synchronous rectification switching buck converter and a wide range of features that provide efficient and reliable operation, with the secondary voltage output adjustable from 0.6Vdc to 6Vdc and with a typical full load efficiency of 85%. It also has a surge current mode of up to 25A to provide immunity against power surges.

Working Principle

The LYT5225D works according to the pulse width modulation technique. It controls the output current through external resistors for controlling the switching frequency. It is capable of supplying up to 1A of power with a 2A peak load capability. The device has built-in frequency jittering action to improve EMI performance. The integrated soft-start circuit reduces the inrush current during start-up and the over-current protection as well as the over-temperature protection prevents device damage due to abnormal conditions.

The LYT5225D\'s integrated AC/DC converter has a lead-acid battery charger that can be programmed and optimized for different types of lead acid batteries such as deep cycle, watering and pulse charging. The device includes linear and PWM programming, and the battery charging voltage, charging current and charge termination voltage are programmable.

The LYT5225D has a low-power, green design enabling it to operate at very low power and heat dissipation levels in stand-by mode. The device supports a built-in Power-Good indication, input voltage sense and feedback control as well as duty cycle adjustment based on the input voltage.
