M48T18-100PC1 Application Field and Working Principle

M48T18-100PC1 belongs to the family of Real Time Clock (RTC). It is used for timing applications in the system and is especially well suited for embedded systems. The key features of M48T18-100PC1 are a very low power consumption, a great accuracy of +/-2ppm, a very wide range of supply voltage (1.8V - 5V), and low power-loss mode.

The working principle of the M48T18-100PC1 is based on a 32.768 kHz quartz oscillator that is converted into digital pulses and further processed on board, resulting in a synthesized clock signal. The oscillator is enabled by default, providing a clock signal as long as supply voltage is present.
