In parallel mode, the data is stored in 8-bit groups and loaded directly into the register in parallel, then shifted out one bit at a time through the output pins.The M74HC670M1R has an asynchronous clear input (CLEAR) that, when low, clears all 8 bits stored in the register. This clears all of the previously loaded data, allowing for new data to be stored.The M74HC670M1R also has an enable input (EN) that, when high, allows the register to accept new data and to transfer data from one memory location to another. The enable input is often used in applications such as audio and video encoders where analog signals need to be converted to digital data and shifted out in one bit at a time.Shift registers are widely used in a variety of applications, including digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital converters, audio and video encoders, and storing information in memories.
