M93C56-RDS6G is a family of 8-pin, 5V, 16k bit, low-power Serial Electrically ErasablePROM that contains a memory array, programming/verification circuitry and a Serial interface. It is available in various packages:( SOIC, TSSOP, PDIP, SOT-23, MSOP) and a wide temperature range (-40 to +125). Only two pins are used for both data and address transfer in a single-wire serial interface, resulting in fewer pins to manage for communication. It is used for a variety of applications such as consumer electronics, automotive and medical products, as well many industrial and consumer appliances.
The M93C56-RDS6G memory provides the user with 16K bits of non-volatile memory, organized as 2048 words. For users, these words can be configured as 8-bit byte, 16-bit word or 32-bit double word.The memory can be accessed through a single-wire serial bus, where data is clocked into the data inputs on the rising edge of the clock.The user may select between either a sequential (burst) or random mode to access the memory. Sequential access reduces the need for loading an address in the device with every new word to be read or written.
The programming/verification circuit on the M93C56-RDS6G allows the user to program new codes into the device, as well as offering the ability to verify previously programmed codes. The programming voltage supplied to the programming/verification circuitry is 3.3V, so no external logic is required for the programming. At rest, the programming/verification circuitry draws very low current allowing for maximum battery life and power consumption.
In terms of security features, the M93C56-RDS6G memory provides several options. One of these is a write protection feature which only allows programming of the memory when the write-enable pin is held low. Additionally, the user can issue a reset command to the device, which will reset all of the memory locations to the erased state.
