Programmable unidirectional and bidirectional transient voltage suppressors (TVS), or Transil, are TVS diodes used as an effective protection against unintentional electrostatic discharges (ESD). The MA5KP90AE3 is a unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) designed to provide protection against transient voltage surges, such as ESD, surge, and lightning on various I/O interfaces. This Transil device is ideal for protecting 5V circuits and is specifically designed for applications with limited space and cost constraints, such as handheld personal electronic devices, computers, and minicomputers.

While the MA5KP90AE3 is designed to suppress above 90pF of transient current, it offers a low-clamping voltage. Its low-profile design makes the MA5KP90AE3 suitable for tight spaces.
