MAPLAD30KP85CA is a transient voltage suppressor diode designed for the automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics markets. It is designed to protect integrated circuits, transistors, FETs and other circuits against damaging voltage transient events. It provides excellent ESD protection and withstands high energy transients. It has a high peak pulse power handling at 10/1000µs and an ESD immunity up to 15,000V.

It provides a low breakover voltage of 65V, making it ideal for protecting integrated circuits in automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics applications. Additionally, it is RoHS compliant, halogen free, and manufactured with RoHS compliant materials. It is ideal for over-voltage and electrostatic discharge protection in automotive, telecommunications, industrial controls, and consumer electronics applications. Its low on-state voltage drop makes it suitable for voltage clamping in high speed logic circuits and for protecting switches and relays.

MAPLAD30KP8CA is a monolithic transient voltage suppressor diode with a breakdown voltage of ~ 65V, a hold current of ~ 5A, and a peak pulse power rating of ~ 30KW (10/1000µs). It contains a junction structure consisting of an ultra-low resistance P-N junction, providing superior protection for integrated circuits against ESD and electrical overstress. This diode operates by clamping the voltage at its breakdown voltage when it is subjected to a voltage transient or surge. This clamped voltage is maintained until the transient event dissipates, after which the diode returns to its normal mode of operation.

When a voltage transient or surge is applied to the diode, the current will initially be limited by a high resistance internal path to the P-N junction. As the voltage approaches and exceeds the diode’s breakdown voltage, the junction resistance will drop and the junction capacitance will increase. This causes a drop in the voltage across the diode, limiting the current through the diode and resulting in voltage clamping. When the transient dissipates, the diode returns to its normal mode of operation with minimal degradation or loss of performance.
