TVS (transient voltage suppression) diodes are semiconductor components used to protect electrical circuit components from voltage fluctuations that could otherwise cause a short circuit. They are also used in manufacturing to protect against electrical surge damage, which can be caused by lightning strike, electrical arcs, and more. In order for them to work in these situations, they need to be designed to absorb and dissipate transient voltage pulses while limiting the amount of voltage that can be passed to the underlying circuitry. The MAPLAD30KP85CAE3 is a TVS Diode which is designed for specific applications and its working principle is designed to resist and suppress transient voltage threats.

The stored energy is then discharged into the circuit as it returns to a normal state.
