In particular, MASMBG2K4.0 has a dual-channel overvoltage protection module suitable for automotive and industrial control systems and other applications. The MASMBG2K4.0 offers two channels of overvoltage protection for its application fields, such as automotive, industrial control systems, and power supplies. It can protect against transients on each circuit, and the transient events are no more than 9.6 kV peak pulse, 20 A. It can be used in single channel or in dual-channel configurations, providing the available protection that fits the user’s requirements.

With an operating voltage of 12-24 volts, a reverse Leakage current of 0.2 µA, and a working temperature of -40°C to +85°C, MASMBG2K4.0 is suitable for automotive and industrial control applications. It also includes an integrated ESD protection module and an overvoltage spike protection module to protect circuits within the range of ±30 mA and ± 300V, respectively.

In addition, the MASMBG2K4.0 has excellent surge suppression characteristics. It offers symmetric protection up to 15 kA (8/20 μs) over a wide temperature range. It also provides enhanced ESD protection up to >35dB (200V - 2KV). Other features include adjustable transient response times, low offset voltage, low IS transient peak current, and fast switching times.

The working principle of the MASMBG2K4.0 is based on an avalanche breakdown phenomenon. This means that when a high enough voltage is applied to a p-n junction, it will break the electrons out of the valence band, thus allowing the electrons to flow freely from the n-side to the p-side. This flow of electrons between the two sides creates a sudden increase in current, which in turn causes a very fast, high-voltage spike that is dissipated in the form of heat.

The MASMBG2K4.0 is an overvoltage protection device that uses a circuit-driven response to attach a control element in order to limit the voltage that can be applied to a circuit.
