In series conduction, the device conducts at a constant voltage across the diode, thereby dissipating the energy of the transient. In suppressed conduction, the device provides a path for the current of the transient to flow by quickly diverting the excess energy of the surge and allowing it to dissipate as heat.

The different conduction modes of the MASMLG26CA enable it to respond to various types of transients. This response depends on the peak levels of the transients as well as the duration of the surge. The device can handle transients with peak levels of up to 20V and delays the dissipation of the surge energy for up to 2 microseconds.

MASMLG26CA is made up of a diode and a surge diverter in combination.
