The MAX20735EPL+ works by converting a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage through the use of Buck switching technology. This is achieved when an external MOSFET is turned on and off by the internal control logic.When the MOSFET is on, the output voltage is supplied by the input voltage, and when the MOSFET is off, the output voltage is provided by a smaller capacitor that charges during the MOSFET on time. The size of the capacitor and its switching frequency determine the amount of voltage dropped and the total output voltage.The resistive losses during the MOSFET on time are minimal, allowing for a high efficiency rate that can reach 98%.
