MAX20751S1VKIT# is an integrated evaluation kit designed for system development of DC/DC buck (step-down) regulators. It facilitates application engineers to evaluate the output load regulation performance and a wide variety of features of MAX20751 across the complete temperature range. This evaluation kit is an ideal platform for design and development of high-efficiency and low-noise, high-current systems like non-isolated high current DC/DC regulators.
The MAX20751S1VKIT# consists of a power supply board, a daughterboard containing the MAX20751 DC/DC controller and a GUI software. The kit provides accurate sensing for output current, input voltage, and junction temperature which can be accessed from the software. The GUI (Graphical User Interface) software for MAX20751S1VKIT# provides a continuous output voltage programming from 0.6 V up to 6 V in 12 discrete selections. You can also program the switching frequency from 100 kHz to 700 kHz in 4 discrete selections through the software.
The power supply board (PSU) is designed with an on-board adjustable voltage input ranging from 6 V to 30 V. It also consists of two additional push-button switches as well as a USB-port for easy GUI connection. The PSU powers the MAX20751 daughterboard and the load separately, hence permitting an uninterrupted output voltage control. The on-board push-button switches enable easy control of the device startup as well as setting of peak-current limit.
The MAX20751 DC/DC converter operates on a fixed frequency Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique and is incorporated with a suite of high-performance features. It includes an adjustable soft-start time, programmable peak current limit, short circuit protection, cycle-skip mode operation, remote sense for efficient power delivery, adjustable loop compensation, SpreadSpectrum for improved EMI, and thermal shutdown for over-temperature fault protection.
The thermal pad allows direct attachment of an external heatsink, offering several benefits, such as maximum output current of 9 A in an 8-lead SOIC or 4.7 A in a low profile thermally enhanced SOIC (TQFN). At 25°C ambient temperature, the quiescent current consumption of the MAX20751 is just 256μA.
The MAX20751S1VKIT# is fully configured for fast testing and evaluation. Its performance in different situations can be tested quickly and accurately with the help of the GUI based software included in the Kit. The MAX20751S1VKIT# evaluation kit is designed for engineers, who are looking for a fast and easy solution to evaluate the MAX20751 DC/DC converter.
